Starting a New Cost Breakdown Structure

 

When you create a new datafile, Mandrel automatically creates the level zero cost item, which will become the ancestor of all other cost items. Creating a new cost breakdown structure is then simply a matter of adding children and siblings in the appropriate places, and giving them names.

 

Cost breakdown structures are created and maintained using the Cost Breakdown Structure form (menu call Editing/Cost Breakdown Structure).

 

Let’s suppose you have just created a new datafile which you have called Project X.

 

Mandrel will have created a level zero cost item with the name Project X. You can add children to this, and then add children to the children, and so on:
